Traveling of any kind requires preparation and planning for the unexpected. This is especially true of patients traveling with nutrition support—they must always ensure that they can continue therapy without interruption.

Before arranging your travel, consult with your healthcare provider to determine if traveling is appropriate. Start by referring to our ‘Tips for Traveling with Nutrition Support’ blog for more information. You will also want to find out how to meet your nutritional needs in the event of a disaster or emergency. Refer to our resource ‘Emergency Preparedness for Nutrition Support Patients’ to learn how to be properly prepared.

To ensure a seamless journey, it may be helpful to have your physician write a letter which explains the need for you to travel with supplies and nutrition formula. Be sure to have the physician’s letter accessible to you at all times to present whenever it’s necessary.

Simply email yourself the sample letter(s) you need, print them out and bring them to your physician to get started.
